Premium Protection Meets
Luxury Unboxing.
Tired of packaging that feels cheap, arrives damaged, or fails to impress? Eliminate the risks of global sourcing with rigid boxes engineered for strength and elegance.
Common Problems with Rigid Boxes
Most suppliers cut corners on board density and glue quality. Here is what usually goes wrong.
Weak Structure & Damage
Thin board or poor gluing causes boxes to dent, crush, or collapse during international shipping.
Color Inconsistency
Batch variation in printing or lamination ruins the premium brand consistency you paid for.
Cheap Closures
Magnets that don't snap or tucks that tear easily, making the unboxing experience disappointing.
High MOQ Requirements
Suppliers forcing 3,000+ pcs makes it too risky for you to test new product lines or seasonal sets.
Inadequate Protection
Poor inner support (inserts) leads to product damage, high return rates, and lost profit margins.

Everything You Need to Know
What is a rigid box and when should you choose it?
A rigid box (often called a set-up box) is constructed from high-density paperboard (greyboard) that is 4 times thicker than a standard folding carton. Unlike folding cartons that ship flat, rigid boxes remain assembled (rigid), offering superior protection and a premium feel.
You should choose rigid boxes if your product retail price is above $50, if the product is fragile (glass bottles, electronics), or if the unboxing experience is a key part of your brand marketing. They are the standard for luxury cosmetics, jewelry, and gift sets.
Magnetic closure vs tuck closure - which is better for luxury?
For pure luxury, magnetic closures are the superior choice. Hidden magnets provide a clean, seamless look and a satisfying "snap" sound when closing, which psychologically signals quality to the consumer. They are reusable and turn the box into a keepsake.
Tuck closures (like on iPhone boxes, technically called "friction fit") are also premium but rely on perfect air pressure engineering. If done cheaply, they can be too tight (hard to open) or too loose (lid falls off). For most boutique brands, magnetic book-style boxes offer the best balance of cost and luxury perception.
How to choose the right board thickness?
Board thickness depends on your product weight and box size.
- 1.0mm - 1.2mm: Small jewelry boxes or very light items.
- 1.5mm - 2.0mm (Standard): Ideal for most cosmetics, perfumes, and skincare sets. Feels solid in hand.
- 2.5mm - 3.0mm: Heavy items like wine bottles, large candles, or premium electronics.
At Choco Package, we recommend starting at 1.5mm to ensure that "expensive" feel without unnecessary shipping weight.

The strongest impression comes from contrast.
A popular and effective combination is Soft-Touch Lamination (velvet feel background) paired with Spot UV (glossy logo) or Hot Foil Stamping (metallic gold/silver). The difference between the matte background and the shiny logo catches the light and invites touch. Embossing adds a third dimension (tactile) which reinforces memory.
